Daniel Durward Staats, Christian counselor and founder of Helping the Hurting, Inc. in Dalton, GA, pled guilty to sexual assault in June 2018 following a four-month investigation into his practice. Staats coerced a woman under his care, as part of her probation, to perform sexual acts. Others have come forward to accuse Staats of making a variety of sexual requests and using scripture to rationalize and sell his sexual propositions.
